DARKNESS

after the poem of the same name by Lord Byron - Requiem

DARKNESS is a chaotic transitional state in which the old dies but the new is not yet born. DARKNESS is the mourning of the loss of habitat, a rain of ashes that obscures the sun and settles over the Anthropocene. DARKNESS is a memory of extinct species, an infinite loop that comes to its end exhausted. DARKNESS is a speculation about man losing his place as the crowning glory of creation.

Three characters are in a permanent state of emergency and there is no end to the crises in sight. They no longer want to look, they want to retreat - after all, they can afford an ideal world. Together with the characters, the audience embarks on a journey into various shelters that must be maintained at all costs. But through contradictory strategies of repression, the characters clash and mutually endanger the stability of the worlds. To maintain the desire for isolation nevertheless and not to let the bubble burst lies - only as long as it succeeds - in the hands of all involved.

It is a barrier-free, walk-in installation without seating.

What do we think of when we hear the word "antisocial"? Of canned beer, cheap cigarettes, jogging suits and tile tables? Of soccer fans, homeless people or people of color - even if we are ashamed of them the next second? Do we think about concentration camps and the Shoah because people were persecuted as "asocial" at that time? Or do we start to think about what is supposed to be "social"? Welfare state? Social market economy? SPD? This social norm that we encounter everywhere every day? What has become possible because people have always opposed such norms? Who is actually really "assi" and why are people so unwilling to be so themselves? Which social body, which "we" is meant, if "asocial" can also mean liberation?
Asocialization program is an immersive wonderland of destruction.

resting in resistance. antigone is a search for forms of resistance that can do without antigone's heroism. The play development is about the feeling of strangeness. At home as elsewhere. About inner restlessness, about loneliness, about Ismene's search for an accomplice and about the question: How to break out of the cursed unlucky loop? It's about the companion at the thresholds, about breaking relationships, about transitions, about waiting for one's number to light up and finally get it. It is about the stories, past and present, that we tell ourselves in the process.

Ariodante

The love between Ariodante and Ginevra, soon to be married, is unsettled by an intrigue of Polinesso. The music of Handel's Ariodante traces the different and highly complex emotional states of the characters. In this way, the characters of the medieval epic of chivalry become tangible and alive. Rennik-Jan Neggers condenses the baroque opera to its emotional climaxes in his scenic realization in order to trace this love that triumphs despite adverse circumstances.

Silence.
There is hardly another word in which longing and discomfort lie so close together. While some find silence soothing, others desire nothing more than to break it. Diēs attempts to make this inner conflict tangible and to draw attention to the unheard and unseen. Composer Jane Dickson composes for two voices, clarinet, cello, and trumpet. Linguistically, the unheard becomes perceptible through various text fragments.

Timeless Minute

A counter-design to the increasingly one-dimensional reception of music through streaming platforms such as Spotify - this is Timeless Minute, a staged pop concert developed by student director Diana Merkel in collaboration with the Munich pop band Alma Viva for her master's degree production. Along twelve songs a complex narrative structure is created, which allows the audience not only a musical-atmospheric experience, but also a content-related examination of the themes laid out in the music.
