Master of Music (M. Mus.)

Concept

The Master’s degree in Music Theatre / Opera Performance teaches the practical and theoretical skills that are required to become a professional opera singer, with the main emphasis laid on developing the singing and acting personality.

The course at the Theatre Academy August Everding contains the following:

  • Musical ensemble work
  • Studies of specific roles / répétiteur studies
  • Scenic-musical performance
  • Scenic aria work
  • Audition training
  • Body work
  • Stage movement (standard dances, flamenco, fencing, aikido etc.)
  • Speech/speaking dialogues
  • Phonetics/foreign languages
  • Opera history/analysis of works
  • Role dramaturgy/analysis of roles
  • Professionalisation (stage law / self-management / self-marketing)
  • Music theatre productions directed by renowned musicians and accompanied by well-known orchestras
  • Workshops and master classes at the European Network of Opera Academies (ENOA)
  • Cooperation with the Bavarian State Theatres
  • Cooperation with students of other disciplines, especially Directing, Dramaturgy and Musical

At the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich:

  • Singing
  • Lied singing/concert singing
  • Répétiteur studies
