The Prinzregententheater in Munich, based on the model of Richard Wagner’s Festspielhaus in Bayreuth, was built by Max Littmann between 1900 and 1901. With its combination of Art Nouveau and Classicist elements, it is considered to be one of Germany’s most beautiful theatres. The Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding has been based here since 1993. 230 students are enrolled in the following courses: Acting, Music Theatre Performance/Opera Singing, Musical Performance, Stage Directing, Dramaturgy, Scenography and Costume Design, Wigs, Make-up and Special Make-up Effects for Stage and Screen, and Theatre, Film and Television Criticism. The proceeds from Prinzregententheater rentals are used in full for the benefit of students, thereby contributing to assuring the quality of their training.
The Prinzregententheater is also a popular location for events in Munich. With more than 1,000 seats, the large auditorium, built in the style of an amphitheatre, offers an ideal venue for concerts, music theatre and ballet performances, congresses and presentation ceremonies, and has state-of-the-art technical stage, sound and lighting equipment.
The elegant atmosphere of the Gartensaal and the Prinzipal restaurant lends special flair to private parties, readings, press conferences and presentations. Every event has individual requirements, which we are glad to accommodate.
